Americans' right to use basic birth control like IUDs and the pill is under attack -- just like abortion and IVF.
Nine out of 10 Americans use birth control at some point in their lives. Most of us never thought we'd have to worry about the government taking it away. But extremist politicians are threatening our right to birth control.
Consider this:
- On June 5, 2024, Republican senators blocked the Right to Contraception Act, which would have protected our right to use basic birth control like the pill, IUDs, and condoms.
- In 2022, 195 US House Republicans voted against the Right to Contraception Act.
- Extremist legislators across the country have introduced bills or other efforts that threaten the right to contraception in at least 27 states.
- Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that the Supreme Court should "reconsider" the 1965 ruling that established the right to contraception.

Contraception is Health Care
We all know someone like Beth – someone who uses contraception to manage painful health conditions. But state lawmakers are taking aim at contraception across the country. Whether preventing pregnancy or treating a condition, contraception is health care that deserves protection.
FREEDOM
How can you distill all that contraception does for people in just one sentence? Contraception = Freedom.
Who We Are
Americans for Contraception Education Fund (AFCEF) was created to alert Americans about the current state of contraception rights and how they are under attack. We learned from Americans’ reactions to the overturning of Roe v. Wade that the public did not realize how abortion rights and access were seriously under threat until it was too late. We must not make the same mistake with contraception.
Through storytelling, proactive messaging, and organizing, AFCEF will educate and inform Americans at the federal and state level about policies affecting their right to contraception. AFCEF will also create an educational foundation around the importance of establishing the right to contraception.
